Fast-growing and low-maintenance bamboo, requiring watering only in the first year, can thrive in areas with poor soil conditions. They can even survive forest fires. Aside from rehabilitating soil, bamboo can effectively prevent erosion, especially on river banks. [1] Bamboo forests sequestrate an equal or more amount of carbon than other plants and also positively leverage smallholder livelihoods (Lobovikov et at., 2012).

Economic / Financial Effectiveness
The DENR finds using bamboo for reforestation as economically viable [2]. Also, since bamboo is a good raw material for different products, it can be a source of income improving the economic status of communities where these bamboos are present [1].
Technical Feasibility
Bamboos can be propagated easily. For instance, a clump of B. philippinensis, a bamboo variety, produced 20 new bamboo culms or stems in one year. [1]
Social Acceptability
The solution's income-generating potential could indicate general social acceptance.
Environmental Impact
Bamboos can rehabiliate soil, restore vegetative cover, and prevent soil erosion. [2]
Mitigation co-benefit
In a year, more than 5.0 tons of CO2 can be sequestered by one hectare of bamboos. [2]
